We play an important role for all residents who need support through social services and are a workplace that drives development. The goal of all our activities is to conduct high-quality social work based on evidence, continuity, participation, and a holistic view.

The unit's mission is to investigate reports and applications regarding children, youth, and families in a legally secure manner, decide on measures, and follow up on these. Furthermore, the unit is responsible for the recruitment and investigation of contact persons, contact families, and foster homes. This also includes the family law function, which is responsible for the establishment of paternity, investigations regarding adoptions, custody, residence, and visitation on behalf of the district court, as well as assisting parents with collaboration talks and establishing agreements regarding children. In addition to authority exercise, preventive work and family treatment are also part of the unit's mission. This is carried out by the unit's family therapists.

The work in the unit is regulated by social legal legislation, primarily the Administrative Act, the Social Services Act, the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act, the Care of Young Persons Act, the Care of Abusers Act, and the Parental Code.
